“Love your job and you’ll never work a day in your life”
Live with Passion and with Purpose!

Do you remember that song ‘She works hard for the money, so hard for it honey?’ (Donna Summer). What images do these words conjure up in your head? Are you constantly juggling everything in your life, and just feeling like you’re going nowhere fast? Do you want more purpose in your life?

jesse jugglingWe all work hard for our money! While few could lay claim to fame for making money while they sleep, the rest of us have to be upright and alert, with a few cups of caffeine in our system to earn it. The majority of us could feel like we’re slaving over a hot desk, or similar, to earn our bread and butter. This is where loving your job comes in. I use the saying ‘Love your job and you will never work a day in your life,’ a lot because it’s so very true! If you have passion for what you do, the rest will come. But is it that easy?

I’ve learned that the only way to truly live contentedly is to earn money from something you are truly passionate about! Otherwise you resent every single hour you spend working. As you go through life you will find mundane tasks that steal your energy, your time, and your enthusiasm. Unfortunately many of them have to be done. While you may not be able to do much about them in your personal life, besides hire a cleaner, you can do something about it in your corporate world. So how do you change the status quo? Find what you love and promote it!

With Social Media at a peak and the ability to connect with like-minded souls over the web, it has become easier than ever before to find those who love what you love. Many blogs and websites offer reciprocal rights, meaning that often you can advertise and get that promotion you crave for FREE or at a very reasonable price! Once people know you exist, and your reputation speaks for itself, it becomes easier to command the dollar.

Pattern your path. Sometimes your chosen field will require time for preparation. While you can’t become a lawyer over night and such a career path requires years of study before you command the big dollars, it may also apply to your passionate or creative path as well. Whether that means taking on further study to better compete in the market place, or it means building up connections and a reputation in the arena you are trying to break into, it will all take time. Few enjoy a sudden lucky break. So think about how you might work towards your chosen goal. Immerse yourself with others who might be willing to promote what you’re about and in turn reciprocate willingly. Empires weren’t built over night. Be patient.

Be passionate about what you do! Find joy in every moment spent at your favourite task. Share it with others. It is in sharing who we are and what we do that our work becomes our joy. Creating space in your life to follow your passion and turning it into revenue is to ‘aspire to be all you were meant to be.’ In the 21st century we have choices, and although ‘we work hard for the money,’ it can be for the passion you feel for your work, and not just for the hard-earned dollar.
